Brod is not thicker than water?

Ninoy and Macoy were fraternity brothers. The bond of frat brotherhood and fraternal responsibility required them to love and help each other. This was however not true in the case of Ninoy and Macoy. There was a war of attrition between these two Upsilonians. Ninoy defied Marcos authoritarian rule and Macoy ordered Ninoy tried on false charges and incarcerated. Despite the enmity, Macoy admired and also cared for Ninoy. The Upsilonian in Marcos allowed Ninoy to undergo a heart bypass operation in the United States. Report has it that Macoy considered Ninoy as his best successor, best prepared for the presidency.

The martyred Ninoy owed his heroism to Macoy, his fraternity brother. Ninoy would not have become a hero if Macoy did not torment him. To a certain extent, Macoy made Ninoy a hero.
